Environmental Protection Policy
The Broads is a unique and beautiful environment, shaped by people working hand-in-hand with nature over hundreds of years. It is a fragile wetland of international importance, full of rare wildlife. With winding waterways, tangled woodlands, golden reeds, and marshland fields stretching to the far horizon, it will always be a hugely popular holiday destination.
All of us at Eastwood Whelpton are proud of our heritage and feel privileged to live and work in The Broads. Our business is dependent on this stunning environment, and we are very conscious of our need to promote sustainable and eco-tourism, as well as minimising our overall impact on our local and global environment. Therefore, we are committed to reducing the impact of our activities on our environment to help sustain it for generations to come.
As part of this commitment, we are pledged to support the The Green Blue environmental awareness programme created by the Royal Yachting Association and British Marine.
As part of our Environmental Commitment, we aim to:
- Continually improve our environmental performance in all of our activities, products and services, where practicable, taking advantage of developing technology and best practise;
- Manage all waste through a hierarchy of “reduce, re-use and recycle” before responsible disposal, and ensure specialist waste is disposed of correctly;
- Increase energy efficiency and reduce our energy consumption;
- Decrease our dependence on Fossil fuels for energy in favour of low carbon alternatives;
- Increase water efficiency;
- Ensure we manage all potential pollution risks including oil, fuel, antifoul and cleaning products to protect our local water course;
- Publicise our environmental commitment and encourage sustainable best practice within our team and for guests.
