Escape to the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads
The Broads National Park contains some of the most stunning and unspoilt landscape that you will find in the UK. Imagine windpumps, reed beds and marshes, an abundance of wildlife and dramatic sunsets. Listen out for a Bittern in the reeds as you stroll along the river banks, explore the medieval roots of the regions churches and historical sites, not forgetting to pause all the way to absorb the stillness and vastness of this area of stunning natural beauty.
Broads sailing is all about big blue Norfolk skies, long winding rivers and the quiet beauty of the landscape. Adrenaline seekers will enjoy the challenge of negotiating tidal waters, medieval bridges and the ever changing direction of the narrowest waterways. If you prefer a more sedate sailing experience then the many broads and wide expanses of water are the perfect playgrounds for sailing newbies.

EXCELLENT Based on 124 reviews Posted on Keith HVerified 4 enjoyable days on the Broads We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days. The beautifully maintained Moorhen exceeded all our expectations and everything was first class in every way. We will treasure the memory of a peaceful night in the middle of South Walsham Broad and being in a perfect position to watch the Barton Broad regatta.Posted on Claire GVerified Best way to explore the Broads Fabulous couple of days on the Norfolk Broads aboard the beautiful 1950's cruiser Moorhen. The boat was kitted out very well with everything we needed. Lovely welcome pack onboard too. Excellent afternoon instruction from Frosty and Bob meant that we were fully prepared for our adventure. Blissful pottering along the rivers and exploring the Broads, would highly recommend this company.Posted on CandJ185Verified Afternoon Tea on Moorhen We were celebrating our wedding anniversary with friends and spent a lovely afternoon on Moorhen with our skipper, Bob. We were made to feel very welcome right from arrival and Bob was a great host on board. The food was fantastic; couldn’t quite do justice to all the cakes but we did our best! Really liked the Norfolk fizz. What a treat. Moorhen is a beautiful and comfortable boat. We had great views of Marsh Harriers and the weather got better and better.Posted on E FVerified Absolutely idyllic holiday on the Braods What a truly wonderful family holiday. We hired Tempest for 5 days, 4 humans,1 dog. We booked last minute and they could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. Eastwood Whelpton is a wonderful place to hire from. True experts; the team care for their boats so well and will happily answer any questions. Tempest was a wonderful size for us with comfy beds and was sparkilingly clean, with a lovely welcome pack for when we got aboard. We sailed in all weathers over 5 days and throughly enjoyed all of it. It is the most idyllic setting to set off from and return back to with an ice cream from the charming cafe a must! The hardest part of our wonderful broads adventure was leaving. Just a note on doggies. Our springer could spring into the cockpit and be lifted back into the cabin but a more elderly or heavier dog might struggle. The Gaff rigged boats are very doggie friendly. The boatyard has something for everyone. All beautifully in a row, it really is a magical place. Thank you Eastwood Whelpton.Posted on Bill MVerified Great sailing holiday The company is one of those rare British findsFabolous service and attention to detailEnthusiastic service and great boatsTo sail the Broads in quiet season is a privalidge Especially when the sun shines in May The old gaff rigs are easy to handle and should hold no fears to anyone with some sailing experience Space is tight on the boats so make sure you go with friendsA holiday to rememberPosted on Go36472498564Verified Taster sail We had a wonderful day sailing on Bootlegger with Frosty, the sunshine and the breeze making for perfect conditions. I wasn't disappointed. In my teens and twenties, I had cruised the Broads with the Scouts and later with friends and always with EW. I have fond memories of these holidays and the unique sailing skills required to navigate tte narrow rivers. 40 years on and a friend and i chartered a classic sailing yacht from EW again. Our boat, Windsong, was lovely and beautifully presented and managed to provide everything we needed for a fun and comfortable holiday; shower, heads, hot water, engine and comfortable accommodation. As with all classic Broads cruisers, the crew need to get on well because the space may be beautifully formed but it is also quite "cosy". East Anglia can be chilly and in the peculiar late Spring of 2024, it was. However, it didn't rain and whilst the winds were flukey, we fid have some fun sailing. The team at EW were very friendly and welcoming and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to my friends.
