Welcome Aboard
We are very much looking forward to meeting you all and hope that you will enjoy a great time afloat with us here on the Broads.
Pre arrival information
We are committed to ensuring that you have a safe and enjoyable holiday on the water. On arrival you will receive a comprehensive handover, but it is also essential that the skipper and at least one other member of the party takes time to familiarise themselves with the following information before you arrive at the yard. Please follow the links and take some time to read and watch the information in our Sailing Holiday Packing Checklist, Skippers Handbook and Broads Authority Safety videos.
If you intend to bring your own bedding and pillows please make sure that we are aware in advance so that we can avoid putting these items on your yacht.
We also ask that you have settled any outstanding amount on your holiday invoice 6 weeks prior to your arrival either by Bank Transfer or Card Payment. Our bank details can be found on your invoice. Do call us if you need help, we do not accept cash or cheque payments.
For safety reasons, please do remind your crew to bring non-slip (deck) shoes for wearing on deck at all times.
When You Arrive
On arrival, please find a space to park in the main yard car park close to the main office building.
Your arrival time will be detailed in your welcome email and this is for your boat check-in and safety briefing appointment. It is important that you meet this time slot – if you are running late due to traffic, please call us so that we can try and move things around if needed for you.
Direct Boarding and Handover/Safety Briefing
On arrival please report to the Reception where you will be greeted by one of our welcome team. After the opportunity for a drink we will then show you to your boat for your handover and safety briefing.
You should assume that the briefing will typically last between 45 and 60 minutes and it is an essential part of ensuring your safety on the water. Our handover team are experienced in tailoring your briefing to your needs and will provide additional time if needed. Part of the briefing process will include giving you time to understand and demonstrate the basic controls of the boat.
Onboard Essentials
We provide personal flotation devices for all onboard your boat including children and pets. Normally these will be lightweight self-inflating lifejackets, however fixed buoyancy aids are also available. Any children’s buoyancy will need to be fitted – a member of our team will supervise and recommend and allow a parent/guardian to check the fit.
A complimentary welcome bag of freshly ground coffee, Norfolk tea, milk and cookies is available onboard for you to enjoy a drink as you unload, unpack and start to unwind! We also provide a full skippers handbook and maps, tide tables and tourist information on board.
We are happy to receive a supermarket delivery on the morning of your arrival and put everything on board for you before you arrive – if you could arrange any deliveries from 11am onwards, that would be helpful. There is also a local community shop here in Upton, which can provide a starter pack hamper, let us know if you would like to order this or contact the shop directly.
Returns
On your day of departure, we ask that you vacate your boat by 0900 at the very latest and by 0830 if at all possible. Please dispose of all rubbish using the waste and recycling bins available at the yard.
If there is a problem during the week, please contact us and make us aware so that we can complete any necessary repairs or sort any issues for you. Please ring or email us on your final afternoon with any issues or breakages and also complete repairs and breakages form that you will find with the Skippers Manual on arrival. The form should be left on the table or seat of you boat when you depart. This will help us to ensure that we can repair and replace items prior to the next guests arriving.
Wishing you and all the family a very happy and safe 2023 – and some super sailing too!
